The October regular legislative session got underway today.
One of the bills discussed was Sen. Roy Quinata's measure to transfer the "Old Baptist Church" property in Inalahan to the Guam Preservation Trust.
"This monument is in a dire need of restoration," he said. "To address this this bill plans to transfer its jurisdiction from the Nieves Flores Memorial Library to the Guam Preservation Trust. This move will enable the trust to undertake essential stabilization and restoration work, ensuring the church's longevity for the future generations. It is our collective responsibility to protect such cultural treasures and I am confident that this bill will contribute to a cultural and social vibrancy of Inalahan."
The bill was amended to require that control over the restored building would ultimately revert to the Inalahan village Municipal Planning Council.
